Tigers are Currently Pretenders
Monday night’s game has proved that the Tigers are pretenders. They had a massive degree of luck in their 7 game winning streak, with 2 games won by 1 point and 1 game won by 2 points. They then came up against the best team in the comp when the Storm were missing their origin stars – and again only just won. Last week’s performance was excused due to the very unfortunate circumstances surrounding the game, but this week showed the Tigers are just not there at the moment. Especially considering they were up 14-0. Of course, the Tigers traditionally have big finishes to a season and their best may be yet to come, but their position on the ladder at the moment is an overstatement of their form.
The final act of the Broncos vs Souths game on Friday saw Civoniceva attempt a conversion to celebrate his 300th game. From a fairly easy position, any regular goal kicker would have normally knocked this over, but Petero missed it and the Broncos lost 2 points. With the competition as close is it is, every for and against point is crucial. You never know, it might mean the difference between two positions at the end of the year. Perhaps a better time for this would have been in the last game, knowing that their position could not be affected. Silly thing to do if you ask me.
More Ref Blunders
There were a few on Friday night, but to pinpoint one, the penalty against Souths for a supposed strip after they had defended to the 6th tackle on their line was mind boggling. Gould hit the nail on the head when exclaimed that the decision had to be the result of a lack in understanding of the game. Brisbane proceeded to score a try. Another incident that tells us a review system is desperately need to eliminate these ‘howlers’.
Supercoach Pain Continues
There is a curse on top Supercoach players at the moment, on Friday night many would have felt further pain when Ashely Harrison was sidelined with a toe injury. This restricted his score to about 30. A toe injury seems quite mild, but News have reported that he may be in doubt for origin. Just be available for round 18!
TC Ink’s Backing:
On Friday night we took the Titans with a +5.5 start at 2.10. The close, low scoring game ensured we got home there.
Tonight TC Ink sees value in the Eels. We rate this game about 50/50, so we’ll attach a +1.5 start to protect against a close-field goal decided affair and take the 2.00 for that.
Just quietly, this is for 5 in a row!
Well, we called this game perfectly! Didn’t need the handicap in the end but it sure was comforting to have it during golden point.
Tomorrow we’re going to have a crack at the Roosters. Manly have been vulnerable against lower teams, they’ve lost Glenn Stewart and the Roosters showed a bit of promise last week. Again a +2.5 start will give us the edge should the result be tight and it’s a good deal for 2.10.
Completely wrong in that one! We’ll make it back next weekend. Don’t see any value in Knights vs Tigers tomorrow night.
Check back for updates throughout the weekend!
